Cutaway diagram of a coaxial laser rangefinder: an edge-emitting laser diode transmits a collimated pulse through a beam splitter toward a three-dimensional obstacle; diffusely reflected photons return along the same optical axis and are directed by the beam splitter into an avalanche photodiode. BEAM COLLIMATION

Comparison of the original spots of the dual lasers with 1200 m collimation

Choose two sources from 905 nm EELs, 1535 nm erbium-glass modules and fibre-coupled modules. Set the available collimation for each source and compare the 1200 m spot using the optical parameters specific to its output type.

Calculate the typical luminous area and FWHM divergence angle using the database, and make a simplified estimate according to the Gaussian beam far field and diffraction limit. The simulated spot uses a logarithmic scale, making it easier to observe both meter-scale original spots and sub-meter collimated spots; actual results still require full system testing.
